The competition promotes careers and excellence in engineering. Teams use modern CAD and CAE tools, physical prototypes, and analysis to develop their designs. Now, more than ever, automotive manufacturers are embracing simulation and other “virtual” approaches to develop their ideas, compare concepts, and test their designs in the virtual world, so they know it works in the real world. This virtual approach is proven again and again to cut costs, speed development, and design better products.
VI-grade, a global leader in providing simulation tools to the racing and production automotive markets, launched the VI-grade Virtual Formula to assist students in developing their designs, but also inject fun and competition using the virtual world!
The Challenge
Optimize the performance of a virtual race car and minimize the lap time. Competition will be won by the team able to provide back to VI-grade the vehicle with the shortest laptime on the given autocross circuit.
