VI-grade will participate to the Automotive Solutions Seminar event to be held on 6th-7th November 2013 in Guangzhou, China. The event, organized by Chinese distributor of VI-grade solutions KHAT and targets all major automotive OEMs and suppliers, will include a series of technical presentations and training sessions related to all automotive VI-grade products.

VI-grade will participate to the 2013 Formula SAE Brasil event, a product development competition where students must create, design, construct and compete with small Formula One style race cars. Founded in Texas in 1981, this competition was created to promote an opportunity for college level students to gain experience in project management and construction and to apply the knowledge gained over the length of the engineering course. In 2011, 160 teams participated in the competition in the United States including 45 foreign teams coming from 14 different countries. The 2013 Brasilian edition of the formula SAE will see the participation of 31 teams.
The event will take place at ECPA, a motoring club at Piracicaba (about 90 km from Sao Carlos).
VI-grade will participate to the event showcasing the VI-DriveSim static simulator at the PSA Brasil (official sponsor of the event) booth.

Virtual Formula 2013, realized with the endorsement of 888, Fiat do Brasil, Lamborghini, MSC Software and PSA do Brasil, is built upon the rules and regulations of the popular Formula SAE and Formula Student.
The competition was based on the usage of VI-Motorsport, VI-grade’s interactive simulation environment for motorsport vehicle modeling and dynamic analysis. All registered teams have been granted access to a complete state-of-the-art racing simulation software to find the best set-up for their car.
The 72 registered teams had time until Feb 28th, 2014 to submit their results to VI-grade.

The participating teams hav been challenged to optimize the performance of a virtual race car, minimizing the lap time on a given autocross track. The competition has been won by the team that drove the vehicle with the shortest lap-time on the given circuit.
This year, the participating teams have also been requested to summarize their engineering decisions into a technical report evaluated by a dedicated committee formed by vehicle dynamicists from well-known automotive companies.
The winning team received 2 VI-Motorsport licenses and a 1-day exciting VI-DriveSim session at VI-grade’s SimCenter.

VI-grade hosted its 5th International Users Conference in Marburg, Germany on April 10th - 11th, 2013. The event has been a unique opportunity for 150 simulation engineers in representation of 80 companies from all over the world and belonging to various industries, such as aerospace, automotive, motorsports, and rail, to meet and share their experiences related to simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and controls.
The event, characterized by the motto “When fast is not enough, get it in real-time”, offered the participants a very comprehensive agenda, featuring 30 presentations from customers and partners, 4 workshops dedicated to the latest technology in advanced system simulation in the automotive, railway, motorcycle and powertrain/engine industries and a workshop dedicated to the newly released 2013 version of the popular Adams software.
The event, rated “very good” to “excellent” by 88% of the participants, also hosted, for the first time in a CAE users conference, a very interesting podium discussion dedicated to the future evolution of simulation-driven and test-driven engineering disciplines, which saw the interaction of engineering managers and simulation experts from Audi, Cosin, Ferrari, FEV, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Multimatic, moderated by the passionate vehicle dynamicist Giorgio Stirano.
A special highlight of this year's conference has been the possibility for all participants to experience the new generation of our VI-DriveSim driving simulation solution, complete with a panoramic screen, driver mirrors and an enhanced driving torque feedback. Moreover, we have premiered during the conference Driver in Motion (DiM), the next generation of moving platform developed in collaboration with Saginomiya, based on a much more compact and much less expensive driving simulator architecture with respect to conventional simulators with similar workspace but capable of delivering a very realistic driving experience in the low- and mid-frequency range.

The Adams product team cordially invites you to participate in a hands-on session to explore features in the upcoming Adams 2013.1 release. The session will be held on April 9th, 2013 in conjunction with the 5th VI-grade Users Conference, and will be led by Chris Baker (Adams Product Manager) and Anthony Gugino (Adams Product Development Manager) from MSC. Feature examples will be provided as a guide, and face-to-face communication with the MSC team will give you a strong voice in the Adams product-planning process.
Features in the upcoming 2013.1 release that may be of particular interest are Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) co-simulation support and enhancements to Adams/Machinery, including a new Cable module and gear modeling updates. During the event, new features recently released in Adams 2013 also will be available for exploration, and details regarding that release can be found on the MSC website.
