Virtual Formula 2012, realized with the media partnership of the Vehicle Dynamics International magazine and in collaboration with Lamborghini, is built upon the rules and regulations of the popular Formula SAE and Formula Student. The competition, that has seen in its past editions the participation of almost 200 different teams worldwide, will be based on the usage of VI-Motorsport, VI-grade’s interactive simulation environment for motorsport vehicle modeling and dynamic analysis. All registered teams will be granted access to a complete state-of-the-art racing simulation software to find the best set-up for their car.
Registrations are closed! More than 90 teams registered to the competition!
The instructions to download the software, the model files and the instructions and to request the software licenses are listed here below. IMPORTANT NOTE: please note that you need to be registered to the VI-grade website in order to be able to download the files: if you are not yet registered, you can complete the registration process at this link. Due to the high number of registrations received, it might take up to 24 hours for your account to be enabled to download the files.
The teams will have time until Jan 15th, 2013 to submit their results to VI-grade.
The competition will end with an official presentation of the results during the forthcoming 5th VI-grade Users Conference.
The participating teams will be challenged to optimize the performance of a virtual race car, minimizing the lap time on a given autocross track. The competition will be won by the team that will drive the vehicle with the shortest lap-time on the given circuit.
The winning team will receive 2 VI-Motorsport licenses, a 1-day exciting VI-DriveSim session at VI-grade’s SimCenter as well as lots of merchandising material provided by Lamborghini, technical sponsor of the competition.
