VI-grade, the leading provider of best-in-class products and services to bridge the gap between real world testing and technical simulation, today announced that Michelotto Automobili, the Italian company responsible for the design, realization and development of prototypes of road cars and competition automobiles, selected VI-CarRealTime, the specialized real-time vehicle simulation environment from VI-grade, to support the virtual tuning process of their cars. In detail, the Michelotto engineering team has been using VI-CarRealTime since more than one year to simulate the behavior of their modified racing cars in order to minimize on-track physical testing and to optimize dynamic behavior on different road and driver conditions.

VI-CarRealTime provides a vehicle simulation environment where the same simplified vehicle model can be used by vehicle dynamics and controls engineers to optimize vehicle and control system performance. The product enables engineers to quickly and easily perform large Design of Experiments (DOE) and multi-objective optimization studies. VI-CarRealTime is the only real-time solution available in the market that can automatically and seamlessly export a real-time vehicle model directly from ADAMS/Car™. Similarly, VI-CarRealTime also enables to share component property files such as tires, springs, dampers, and bumpstops with ADAMS/Car™. VI-CarRealTime provides validated models which can be used by controls and hydraulic engineers to optimize the controller design based on accurate vehicle performance. Michelotto was founded in Padua, Italy in 1969 and since its beginning it was responsible for competition cars, making it a protagonist since 1971 with the victory of the Italian Turismo Championship Gr.1 Class 850. Michelotto continued its series of successes in 1973 with the debut in the Italian Championship Rally of the Stratos that won five Italian Championships and more than 30 absolute victories. During the following years the relation with Ferrari was established using the 308 GR 4 in the rallies, that lead to several additional absolute victories, including two Targa Florio, two Tour De France, an Italian Championship Rally and a Spanish one. After rallies victories Michelotto moved to sport prototype and GT race first with Ferrari F40 and then with the responsibility for development of 333 SP (that won 2 IMSA WSC and 4 FIA Sportscar Championship). Since 2000 Michelotto worked on Ferrari V8 cars: F360, F430 and F458 that actually run in all major GT championship with various victories in GT class ( included 3 times victory of GT2 class at Le Mans 24H, 4 times victory of Sebring 12h and 3 times victory of Petit Le Mans). Michelotto is responsible for the design, realization and development of prototypes of road cars and competition automobiles from engine to chassis, creating all their components by means of the most advanced systems.
