VIRTUAL FORMULA 2022
In a strong competition against 121 Formula SAE and Formula Student teams from 16 countries from all over the world, the UniBo Motorsport Combustion from University of Bologna, Italy and the Squadra Corse PoliTO from Politecnico di Torino, Italy have won the 2022 edition of the championship, respectively in the Internal Combustion and the Electric Vehicle categories.

In detail, 29 teams from the electric drivetrain group and the 16 teams from the combustion engine group qualified for the ONLINE driving simulator session. The qualified teams have then used the submitted models for the ONLINE Driver-in the-Loop simulation. Teams drove simultaneously on a 10-laps endurance race in groups of 4 during a series of online meetings. The final ranking took into account the total lap time, the fuel/electricity efficiency, and eventual penalties.

The teams that scored the best ranking won the competition and will be awarded with all top-notch Fanatec hardware and VI-grade software needed to upgrade the team’s Windows PC to a fully functional VI-grade DESKTOP Simulator as well as with a 1-day session at one VI-grade’s SimCenters located around the world to understand how our cutting-edge solutions are used by OEMs, suppliers and motorsport teams to develop and fine tune their cars.
