The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing market is gaining momentum following the development of vehicles with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) capabilities. This growth is driven by the need for a solution that can cost-efficiently validate the number of electronic control units (ECUs) incorporated into these vehicles. In this presentation, VI-grade's Christoph Ortmann, Vice President for HiL applications, explains how AutoHawk, the company's new HiL solution for automotive applications developed in collaboration with Concurrent Real-Time, can be a powerful addition to the system engineering process for vehicle development. AutoHawk consists of real-time hardware, real-time OS, real-time software and all I/O cards and is highly configurable. VI-grade real-time software (or software from 3rd party) can be installed on it. In the same configuration, it can work as a stand-alone Linux based, high power computer, as a HiL system or in combination with a driving simulator or on a real vehicle. AutoHawk is therefore a flexible HiL platform that can be used across the entire product development cycle, from concept to sign-off.
