In the automotive industry, vehicle development times and engineering costs need to become quicker and cheaper to remain competitive. This drives Nissan’s direction to increase virtual vehicle development capabilities. Working together with HORIBA MIRA, expert Ride and Handling assessors performed subjective evaluations using an CarSim and AdamsCarRT model integrated with CDTire and MFTire on two simulator platforms: HORIBA MIRA’s DiM250 and Nissan’s in‑house Simple Driving Simulator. Physical back-to-back assessments were also carried out to validate the results. The presentation will outline how these assessment methods can be used to virtually tune tyres and demonstrate our ability to reduce tyre development times by up to 25% and development costs by up to 30%.
