This work investigates the balance between powertrain engagement and refinement using McLaren’s Full Spectrum Simulation approach. The study focuses on how simulation-driven development can be used to evaluate and optimise the trade-off between dynamic driving engagement and perceived refinement across a wide range of operating conditions. By leveraging high-fidelity virtual models, different powertrain configurations are assessed to understand their impact on vehicle responsiveness, smoothness, and overall driver experience. The results demonstrate how full-spectrum simulation enables more efficient iteration and improved decision-making during the early stages of powertrain development.
